Women's Tennis Falls to Sacramento State in Final Match Out West

Sacramento, Calif. – The UMBC women's tennis team completed its western spring break trip with a 4-0 loss at Sacramento State on Thursday, March 20.

The Retrievers finished 1-2 on the trip and stand at 6-7 on the spring.

After dropping the No. 2 doubles match, UMBC freshmen Adrian Aldunate (Bowie, Md.) and Mariami Dolashvili (Alushta, Ukraine) put up a good battle at No 3. doubles, but fell, 8-5 and SSU earned the doubles point.

In singles, No. 1 Kim Berghaus (Offenbach, Germany) won her first set, 7-6, over Daria Savchenko, but the match was not completed. The host Hornets won singles matches at Nos. 5, 2 and 4 to earn four points and clinch the match.

UMBC returns to Baltimore and will play five of its next six matches at home. The first match in that series is a March 28 date with St. Joseph's.
