Shalini Sahoo Named America East Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week

Cambridge, Mass.- UMBC graduate student Shalini Sahoo (New Dehli, India/TCU) was named America East Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for matches ending Feb. 26, 2012.

 

Sahoo won four matches in one day's work on Feb. 26. After winning her doubles match vs. Hofstra, Sahoo got singles off to a roaring start with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Sonia Tsay at the No. 2 slot. The Retrievers blanked the Pride, 7-0, in the morning at Twin Lakes Racquet Club.

 

The first-year Retriever continued her dominance in the afternoon vs. Towson. After teaming with sophomore Josefin Stange-Jonsson to capture another doubles victory, she  dropped just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 victory over TU's Aandria Carr.

 

UMBC defeated Towson, 6-1 and evened its record at 5-5 on the campaign.

 

Sahoo improved her singles record to 7-3 on the season.
