Powlen, Husson Post UMBC Swimming and Diving All-Time Top 10 Times at Day Two of the Terrapin Invitational

COLLEGE PARK, Md.—The UMBC men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams completed action at the Terrapin Invitational Saturday, posting two more UMBC All-Time Top 10 Times.
Sophomore Katie Powlen (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin Regional) finished second in the women’s 1,650-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 17:01.20, the fifth-fastest time in school history.
Freshman Patrick Husson (Camp Springs, Md./DeMatha) placed second in the men’s 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:03.27, the fifth-fastest time in UMBC history. Sophomore Patrick Bryan (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) finished in 2:13.20, a career-best time.
Junior Evan Danz (Woodstock, Md./Loyola Blakefield) finished fifth in the men’s 50 free in a career-best time of 21.41, while sophomore Brian Keane (Hanson, Mass./Boston College HS/Arizona) also recorded a career-best in 22.18.
Sophomore Anna Plunkett (Orchard Park, N.Y./Nardin Academy) finished the women’s 100 fly in career-best time of 57.51, while Powlen recorded a career-best time in the 200 free in 1:56.98.
In the men’s 200 free, Keane and freshman Kevin Stang (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) posted career-best times of 1:43.85 and 1:45.45, respectively, while junior Andrew Reid (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich) touched in a career-best time of 1:44.41 in the prelims.
The Retrievers return to action Thursday through Sunday for the 2011 America East Championships at the Germantown Indoor Swim Center in Boyds, Md.
