Seven Named to the America East Swimming and Diving All-Academic Teams

Cantwell, the 2008 America East Women’s Swimming and Diving Scholar Athlete, earned second in the 200 breast and bronze in the 100 breast at the America East Championships. She graduated in May 2009 with a degree in psychology and is currently pursuing a master’s degree from UMBC in industrial and organizational psychology.
Kaplanova earned third in the 200 breast, fourth in the 200 IM and fifth in the 100 breast at the conference meet and has a cumulative GPA of 3.86 in political science.
Vonder Haar, a chemical engineering major with a 3.56 GPA, earned silver in the 100 back, sixth in the 100 fly and seventh in the 100 free at the conference meet to help lead the Retrievers to their seventh consecutive America East Championship.
Freeman, who has a 4.00 GPA in mechanical engineering, finished ninth in the 200 back and the 400 IM and 10th in the 200 free at the America East Championships.
Novotny, who finished fifth in the 200 breast and seventh in the 100 breast at the conference meet, has a 3.56 cumulative GPA in mechanical engineering.
Mendenhall, who has a 3.38 cumulative GPA in biological sciences, earned third in the 200 breast, fourth in the 100 breast and sixth in the 400 IM at the conference meet.
