COLLEGE PARK, Md.—Senior Jennifer Esposito (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst/C.W. Post) broke the UMBC record in the 100 fly at the Maryland Last Chance NCAA Qualifier March 5-6 in College Park, Md.

Esposito’s time of 55.41 broke the oldest school record on the women’s side, formerly held by Sabine Pietrzyk, who swam 55.60 in 1999.

Sophomore Abbey McKenney (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine), who broke the school record in the 50 and 100 free events at the America East Championships a week earlier, swam the second-fastest 100 back (57.15) and the sixth-fastest 200 back (2:03.98).

Two freshmen, Katie Powlen (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin Regional) and Elise Blaschke (Sewell, N.J/Bishop Eustace Prep), had the sixth-fastest times in school history in the 1,650 free (17:12.99) and the 100 back (57.95), respectively.

Junior Danielle Cruz (Catonsville, Md./Western Tech) also had a good meet, swimming the fifth-fastest 50 free (24.01) and the sixth-fastest 200 free (1:51.90) in UMBC history.

On the men’s side, sophomore Ben Wolbert (Finksburg, Md./Westminster) swam the 10th fastest 100 fly in school history in 50.37.
