Swimming and Diving Announces 2009-10 Guest Coaches
10/22/2009
BALTIMORE—Head UMBC swimming and diving coach Chad Cradock announced Thursday this year’s guest coaches for the Retrievers’ 2009-10 home meets. Dr. Kim Leisey, Dr. Elliot Hirshman and UMBC President Dr. Freeman A. Hrabowski, III will all join the Retrievers at the UMBC Natatorium, continuing the tradition of bridging the gap between academics and athletics.
“We are very excited for such high-profile members of the faculty to join us this year,” Cradock said. “It gives our athletes a great opportunity to get to know them a little better and for them to see how hard we work to represent the university in a positive manner.”
Leisey, the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs, will be guest coach of this Saturday’s meet against Navy. The men’s meet is at noon and the women’s is at 2 p.m. Hirshman, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, will be on the deck for the Jan. 9 meet against Drexel and Howard at 1 p.m. For senior and alumni day, Hrabowski, UMBC’s President since 1992, will join the Retrievers as they take on Delaware and William and Mary on Jan. 30 at 1 p.m.
