2008-09: Competed in one meet, the season-opener against Bucknell… Missed the rest of the season due to injury and received a medical redshirt… Named to the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
2007-08: Named the America East Winter Scholar-Athlete after she claimed gold in both the 100- and 200-yard breaststrokes for the second straight season at the America East Championships… Set University of Maine Wallace Pool records in both events with times of 1:03.58 and 2:15.92, respectively… Her time in the 100 breast set a new school record, and her time in the 200 breast was an NCAA provisional qualifying time… Part of the school, America East Championship and pool record-setting 400 medley relay (3:49.11) as well as the bronze-medal winning 200 medley relay and finished ninth in the 200 individual medley… Won the 100 breast, 200 breast and 400 IM and was part of the winning 400 medley relay at the GMU Patriot Invitational… Also finished second in the 200 IM and third as part of the 200 medley relay at the same meet… Finished the dual and championship meet seasons undefeated in the 200 breast, with her last loss dating back to Oct. 28, 2006… Won the 100 breast at five meets, falling just once when she placed second against New Hampshire and also won the 200 backstroke at one meet… Was part of the winning 200 and 400 medley relays at two meets each during the season… Set Rider Coppola Pool records in the 100 (1:05.94) and 200 (2:21.35) breaststrokes against Rider… Held UMBC’s fastest times of the season in the 100 breast (1:03.58), 200 breast (2:15.92) and 400 IM (4:31.62)… Swam career-best times in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes at the America East Championships and season-best times in the 200 IM (2:08.40) and 400 IM at the Patriot Invite… Her 200 breast time ranks second on the all-time top 10 list… Named to the America East All-Academic Team… Was named the America East Swimmer of the Week for the weeks ending Nov. 19 and Jan. 14… Qualified for and competed at the USA Olympic Trials in the 200 breast... Named team Most Valuable Athlete at UMBC’s varsity awards banquet.
2006-07: Part of the America East champion 400 medley relay which set a new school record with a time of 3:49.49… Also part of the second-place 200 medley relay which set a new school record (1:47.04) at the America East Championships, and the 400-meter medley relay which set a pool record against Navy (4:23.89)… Claimed America East gold in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and placed sixth in the 200 individual medley… Recorded two NCAA B-cuts in the 200 breast at the conference championships (2:16.14) and against Navy (200m, 2:32.83)… Also won the 200 breast, placed second in the 100 breast, third in the 400 IM, and sixth in the 200 IM at the Patriot Invite, and was part of the winning 400 medley, fourth place 200 medley and 12th place 200 freestyle relays… Undefeated in the 200 breast in both dual meets and championship meets… Also won the 100 breast at three dual meets and the 100 backstroke and 200 IM at one meet each… Swam personal-best times in the 100 breast (1:03.86) and 200 breast (2:16.14), which rank second on the all-time top 10 list, in the 200 IM (2:07.73), which ranks eighth; and the 400 IM (4:31.05), which ranks seventh… Named to the America East All-Academic Team and Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
2005-06: Won silver in the 100-breast and bronze in the 200-breast and 400-IM at the America East Championships… Took bronze in the 200-breast and placed fourth in the 100-breast at ECAC’s… Won the 200-breast at Marist… Placed second in the 200-breast at six dual meets and in the 200-IM against Towson… Swam UMBC’s fastest 400-IM time of the season (4:32.31) and the second-fastest times in the 100-breast (1:05.22) and the 200-breast (2:19.64)… Swam on the winning 400-medley relays at five dual meets… Named the team’s Most Improved Athlete… Selected to the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll… Swam a season-best time in the 200-IM (2:10.11) against East Carolina.
Background: Led her high school team to a district championship in 2002… Her team also finished fourth at the Pennsylvania Eastern meet… Also lettered in water polo in high school, and her team won the state championships in 2000 and was runner-up in 2001.
Personal: Daughter of James and Maria Cantwell… Has an older sister, Rachel, and a younger sister, Julie… Rachel swam at Albright College and Julie is a junior swimmer at UMBC… Born April 27, 1987… Graduated from UMBC in May 2009 with a degree in psychology and is currently attends graduate school at UMBC.
