2008-09: Claimed silver in the 200-yard butterfly and finished sixth in the 100 fly and eighth in the 200-yard freestyle at the America East Championships… Part of school record-breaking 200 medley relay team that took bronze at the conference meet… Claimed gold in the 200 fly and silver in the 100 fly at the Patriot Invitational… Finished first eight times during the dual meet season… Swam career-best times in the 200 free (1:53.03), 100 fly (56.29) and 200 fly (2:01.04) at the America East Championships… The 200 fly, 100 fly and 200 free times rank second, fourth and ninth all-time at UMBC… Earned America East All-Academic honors… Named to the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
2007-08: Claimed gold in the 200-yard butterfly, earned bronze as part of the 200 medley relay and finished fifth in the 100 fly and 15th in the 200 freestyle at the America East Championships… Finished sixth in the 100 fly, ninth in the 200 fly, tied for 23rd in the 200 free, 26th in the 100 free and was part of the winning 400 medley relay, seventh-place 800 free, eighth-place 400 free and ninth-place 400 medley relays at the GMU Patriot Invitational… Won the 50 and 100 butterflies and placed second in the 200 fly against Bucknell... Also won the 200 fly against Maryland, Marist and Binghamton… Held UMBC’s fastest times of the season in the 100 (57.38) and 200 (2:05.33) butterflies, both of which are career bests… 100 fly time ranks seventh and 200 fly is sixth on the all-time top 10 list… Named to the America East All-Academic Team.
2006-07: Finished third in the 200 butterfly, fourth in the 100 fly and eighth in the 200 freestyle at the America East Championships… Also placed seventh in the 200 fly and 13th in the 200 free and 100 fly and was part of the sixth-place 400 free, seventh-place 400 medley, 10th -place 800 free and 11th-place 200 medley relays at the Patriot Invite… Won the 200 free against Binghamton and the 500 free against Howard… Swam season bests in the 200 free (1:56.02), 100 fly (57.92) and 200 fly (2:06.52) at the America East Championships… 100 fly time ranks eighth on the all-time top 10 list… Named to the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
Background: Member of the National Honor Society and National Art and Spanish Honor Society in high school… Named to All-State team all four years in high school… Was the 2005 Southern Connecticut Conference champion in the 100-fly… Also the 2004 CIAC L Division Connecticut champion in the 100-fly… Was named to the New Haven Register All-Area Team in 2005 as well as the Connecticut Post All-Area Team in 2004 and 2005.
Personal: Daughter of Lisbeth and James Sherman… Has a younger brother, Adam… Born June 28, 1988… Majoring in physical therapy and hopes to be a physical therapist.
