2008-09: Part of the silver medal-winning and school record-breaking 400-yard freestyle relay team at the America East Championships… Finished ninth in the 200-yard individual medley, 10th in the 100 free and 11th in the 200 free at the conference meet… Also placed ninth in the 200 free and 13th in the 100 free at the Patriot Invitational… Won the 100 and 200 IM against Bucknell… Swam career-best times in the 100 free (53.05), 200 free (1:53.06) and 200 IM (2:08.84) at the America East Championships… Her 200 free time ranks 10th all-time at UMBC… Named to the America East Honor Roll.

 

2007-08: Finished ninth in the 500-yard freestyle, 10th in the 200 free and 13th in the 50 free at the America East Championships… Finished 10th in the 500 free, 18th in the 200 free and 28th in the 50 and 100 free at the GMU Patriot Invitational… Was also part of the second-place 800 free and seventh-place 200 free relays at the same meet… Won the 200 free against Binghamton... Swam season-best times in the 50 free (25.05), 200 free (1:56.26) and 500 free (5:07.31) at the America East Championships and in the 100 free (55.59) against Towson.

 

Background: Attended Western Tech and swam for UMBC head coach Chad Cradock and UMBC assistant coach Chris Gibeau with the Retriever Aquatic Club… Named a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American… Member of the National Honor Society, a Maryland Distinguished Scholar and member of the High Honor Roll… Graduated with a 4.0 grade point average.
 
Personal: Youngest of two daughters to Helen and Norman Cruz… Has one sister, Lenore (24)… Majoring in pre-medicine in hopes of becoming a doctor… Born July 18, 1989.
