2008-09: Claimed silver in the 200-yard freestyle and 500 free and placed fourth in the 100 free at the America East Championships… Set the school record in the 100 free (50.88) and 200 free (1:48.51) at the conference meet… Part of school record-breaking 200 free, 400 free, 800 free and 400 medley relay teams at the league championships… Earned silver in the 200 free and finished fourth in the 500 and 1,650 free events at the Patriot Inviational… Claimed eight victories during the dual meet season... Her season-best times in the 500 free (4:50.53), 50 free (23.69) and 1,000 free (10:28.37) rank second, third and sixth, respectively, on UMBC’s all-time top-10 list at UMBC… Named the team’s Most Valuable Athlete at UMBC’s varsity awards banquet in May.

 

Background: Was part of 800 freestyle relay team at Tennessee in 2006 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships that finished seventh and garnered All-American status… Was a scholastic All-American in high school… Selected to the All-Maryland team from 2004-2007… Was open-water 1K champion in 2001 and was a national qualifier at the U.S. Open in 2004… Member of the Green Terror Aquatic Club, earning scholastic All-America honors from 2003-05.

 

Personal: Daughter of Tracy and Sam Maccherola… Has two brothers, Andrew (21) and Austin (21)… Brother Andrew plays rugby for Towson… Majoring in media and communications with hopes to be a news anchor.
