Marin, Rattsev Named #AESD Female and Male Swimmers of the Week

BOSTON, Mass. – Freshman Natalija Marin (Belgrade, Serbia) and sophomore Ilia Rattsev (Moscow, Russia) have been named America East Swimmers of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon.

Marin earns her first Female Swimmer of the Week honor after placing first in both of her individual events against Towson, taking first in the 100 fly with a time of 55.95, and 200 fly with a time of 2:02.71; her times in the fly against the Tigers are now the eighth fastest times in UMBC program history. The sophomore also helped UMBC to two second place finishes in the 400 free relay and 200 medley relay.

Rattsev earns his second Male Swimmer of the Week honor after leading the charge for the men, winning the 50, 100, and 200 free. He clocked in at 21.00, 46.64, and 1:41.41, respectively.

The Retrievers take a weekend off from the pool before returning to swim at Old Dominion on November 4 at 1 p.m.
