Baltimore, Md.—UMBC swimming and diving senior Emily Escobedo (New Rochelle, N.Y./Maria Regina) will cap her historic career with the Retrievers this week at the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis. Escobedo will compete in three events this week at the meet.

Emily will compete in the 200 IM, 100 breast and 200 breast at the championships where she will be seeded 13th, 10th and third respectively. Last year at the championships, Escobedo placed 23rd in the 200 IM, 15th in the 100 breast and third in the 200 breast earning Honorable Mention All-American in the 100 breast and All-American in the 200 breast.
With her participation at the championships, she will become the first Retriever and America East swimmer to qualify and compete in the meet all four years of her career.
The New York native finished the America East Championships with six gold medals, setting five school records. She earned her fourth America East Swimmer of the Year award, adding to her Rookie of the Year honor during her freshman season. She earned a spot on the All-Academic Team for the third time; the conference announced a couple weeks back.
