Women’s Soccer Falls to Stony Brook, 2-0

A fast-break pass from Stony Brook midfielder Taryn Schoenbeck to forward Colleen McKenna found the back of the net when McKenna rocketed a shot from just inside the box under the crossbar to put the Seawolves up, 1-0, late in the ninth minute. Then just 3:41 later, Stony Brook tallied its second goal of the game off a failed clear by a UMBC defender. UMBC’s best opportunity came with just over a minute left in play when sophomore forward Rachel McKee (
Kadet finished with six saves, while Morales stopped five shots for the Seawolves. UMBC outshot Stony Brook, 12-9, and both teams took two corner kicks in the game. Johnson and McKenna were named the America East Players of the Game for their respective teams.
