CCSU WOMEN'S SOCCER REMAINS UNDEFEATED IN NEC WITH 3-1 WIN OVER UMBC

New Britain, CT (October 11, 2002) –  The Central Connecticut State University women’s soccer team was victorious by a score of 3-1 over visiting UMBC in Northeast Conference women’s soccer action today at the CCSU soccer field.  The win improves the Blue Devils record to 9-4-0 overall, including 5-0-0 NEC play.  UMBC falls to 3-9 overall and 0-5 in NEC play.

Juliana DiPlacido scored the first Blue Devil goal when she was able to get her foot on a loose ball in front of the UMBC goal at 24:46.  Jessica Kelley and Anna Lemire each added a goal before halftime to give the Blue Devils a 3-0 lead at the break.

UMBC scored on an own goal with 5:23 to play in the second half to avoid the shutout.  Central's Sabrina Mariani made five saves to record her sixth win of the season.  Robin Babaris had nine saves for UMBC.
