WOMEN’S SOCCER FALLS TO MONMOUTH IN OVERTIME, 1-0

Baltimore, MD – UMBC (3-8, 0-4 NEC) lost their fourth straight as they fell to Northeast Conference rival, Monmouth (5-4-1, 2-1-1 NEC), 1-0 in overtime Sunday afternoon at UMBC Stadium. It was the Retrievers’ third overtime loss in the season, and fifth game overall decided by a one goal differential.

Hawk forward Kate Sands was able to end the game in the 95th minute after breaking away from Retriever defenders, thus allowing her to score from the top of the box into the lower right corner of the UMBC net.

For the game, Monmouth outshot UMBC, 13-5. Retriever goalkeeper Robin Babaris made five stops in the net, while Monmouth’s Abby Shiffler saved two.
