Retrievers Blanked by Vermont, 5-0, in Women’s Soccer

In the 15th minute, forward Jessica Becker headed in a cross from forward Lexie Kaknes to put the Catamounts on top, 1-0. Three minutes later, midfielder Erin Pichiotino collected the ball at the top of the penalty box, spun with the ball and chipped it over UMBC goalie Christine Bacinski (Hampstead, Md./Mount de Sales) with the outside of her foot.
Then in the 22nd minute, Kaknes and Pichiotino teamed up for Vermont’s third goal when Pichiotino sent a shot toward the net and Kaknes was there to clean up the rebound, sending Vermont into halftime with the 3-0 advantage.
Kaknes notched her second goal of the day in the 56th minute, putting back her own rebound. Then with less than a minute to play, midfielder Emily Milbank crossed the ball to midfielder Kristin Davenport. Bacinski came out to challenge, but
