Danielle Kell Named America East Women’s Soccer Co-Rookie of the Week

Danielle Kell scored the game-winning goal against Maine.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—UMBC freshman midfielder Danielle Kell (Willards, Md./Parkside) was named America East Co-Rookie of the Week for the week ending Sept. 28, the conference announced Monday.

Kell scored her first career goal, the game-winner, in the 61st minute of UMBC’s 1-0 win over Maine on Sunday. The victory was UMBC’s first-ever in seven meetings with the Black Bears and first in an America East opener since the Retrievers joined the league in 2003.

Kell shares the honor with Stony Brook’s Colleen McKenna, who also scored the game-winner in the Seawolves’ 1-0 win over Hartford.

The Retrievers (2-9-0, 1-0-0 AEC) return to action on Thursday when they host America East rival Binghamton at 3:30 p.m. at UMBC Soccer Stadium.
