Women’s Soccer Conclude Regular Season at Binghamton, vs. Albany

BALTIMORE- The UMBC women’s soccer team (2-12-2, 1-5-0 AEC) travel to Binghamton (2-10-3, 1-4-1 AEC) on Thursday afternoon and conclude their regular season vs. Albany (4-8-3, 1-5-0 AEC) on Sunday at 1 p.m. at UMBC Soccer Stadium. It will be the final home game for seniors Alexis Rogowsky (Great Falls, Va./Langley), Morgan Sacchetti (Glen Burnie, Md./Old Mill), and Jessica Young (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone).
Looking Back: The Retrievers dropped a 4-0 decision to Pennsylvania on Tuesday afternoon at UMBC Soccer Stadium. In their last America East game, UMBC defeated Vermont 2-1 for their first America East win since Oct. 9, 2005. Freshman forward Ashley Singer (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood) scored her team-leading fourth goal of the game and sophomore forward Michelle Worrest (Germantown, Md./Northwest) scored the game winner.
On the Bearcats: Binghamton lost to Maine, 2-0, on Oct. 21 in Orono, Maine. Forwards Kim Povill and Danielle White lead the team with four goals each while midfielder Tricia Reed has three goals. Povill also leads the Bearcats with six assists.
Last time vs. the Bearcats: The Retrievers lost to Binghamton, 3-0, on Oct. 12 in Baltimore, Md.
All-Time vs. the Bearcats: The Retrievers are 0-3-2 all-time against Binghamton dating back to 2003, when UMBC entered the America East.
On the Great Danes: Albany lost its last game at Vermont, 3-1, in Burlington, Vt. Forward Teresa Boring leads the team with eight goals and forward Diana Barrera leads Vermont with three assists.
Last time vs. the Great Danes: The Retrievers lost to Albany, 3-1, on Oct. 8 in Albany, N.Y. UMBC junior midfielder Kali Schwartz (Congers, N.Y./Clarkstown South) scored the lone goal for the Retrievers. It was Albany’s first win ever vs. UMBC.
All-Time vs. the Great Danes: The Retrievers lead the series 3-1-0 dating back to 2003, when UMBC entered the America East.
Fabulous Freshmen: 10 out of the 12 Retriever goals this season have been scored by freshmen. Forward Ashley Singer leads the team with four goals. Forwards Sandra Vacarino (Mantua, N.J./Clearview Regional) and midfielder Caitlyn Slattery (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) each have two goals, while forward Meagan Rivera (Fairport, N.Y./Penfield) and defender Morgan Warrington (Magnolia, Del./St. Thomas More Academy) have added one.
Moving Up the Ranks: Senior forward Jessica Young is fifth place all-time at UMBC with 23 career goals scored and sixth all-time with 56 career points. She is also tied for 10th all-time with senior Amy Morrison (Crofton, Md./South River).
