Baltimore, Md.—The UMBC women’s soccer team lost its fourth straight and fifth conference game after being shut out by Binghamton University on Thursday afternoon at UMBC Soccer Stadium.

The Bearcats (6-7-2, 3-3-0 AEC) jumped to a 1-0 lead after Kelly Burnham beat out senior Retrievers (4-10-1, 0-5-0 AEC) goalkeeper Robin Babaris and fired into the lower left corner late in the first half.

Less than ten minutes into the second half, Amanda Casares converted off a pass from Kim Povill and fired into the upper right corner from 15 yards out at the 51:06 mark.  Babaris got a hand on the ball but could not stop it from finding the back of the net to give Binghamton a two-goal lead.

Kelly Haslinger added one more for Binghamton in the 80^th minute as she dribbled right and shot from just outside the box at the 18-yard mark.

Babaris tallied nine saves for the Retrievers, while Kristie Bowers recorded five for the Bearcats.

The Retrievers were outshot 20-11 and the Bearcats held a 4-1 advantage on corner kicks.

The Retrievers take to this road this weekend, when they play their final away game of the regular season at the University of Vermont on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
