Women’s Soccer Drops Second Straight, 2-0 to Jacksonville at Kick Out Cancer Tournament

    Jacksonville, Fla.-The UMBC women’s soccer team (3-4-1) dropped its second straight decision Sunday afternoon, falling 2-0 to host Jacksonville (5-3-0) on the final day of the Third Annual Kick Out Cancer Tournament at the Ashley Sports Complex.

     

    Angela Hulse put the Dolphins on the board in the 21st minute, scoring on a breakaway from an assist by Jenny Borschel for the 1-0 advantage.

     

    The score remained the same until Borschel put the game away for the Dolphins with less than six minutes remaining in the second half, scoring on a header after a free kick by Emilie Howland.

     

    Jacksonville out-shot the Retrievers, 12-10, and held a 4-2 advantage on corner kicks. UMBC sophomore goalie Christine Bacinski went the distance and stopped six shots, while Dolphin keeper Michelle Kmiotek also made six saves while tallying her fourth shutout of the season.

     

    The Retrievers return to action Thursday, Sept. 21, as they take on in-state rival Mount St. Mary’s at 4 p.m. in Emmitsburg, Md.
