UMBC’S CATIE BUKOWSKI NAMED ECAC DIVISION-I GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK

Catie Bukowski was named ECAC Division-I Goaltender of the Week.

Centerville, Mass.-UMBC freshman goalie Catie Bukowski (Odenton, Md./Arundel/South Carolina) was named Eastern College Athletic Conference Division-I Goaltender of the Week for the week ending Oct. 9. Bukowski earned two shutouts this weekend, totaling six saves in two games.

 

Bukowski tallied five saves in a 1-0 victory over conference rival Hartford before blanking league foe Albany with one save. She has shut out three consecutive opponents and has allowed only one goal in her last 360:00 to lower her goals against average to 0.93.

 

Bukowski has four shutouts on the season, and the two wins improved her personal record to 6-2-0. She has totaled 44 saves and allowed only eight goals in 770:18 of play for a .846 save percentage. She is fifth in the conference with 0.44 shutouts per game and sixth in saves per game (4.89) and GAA.

 

The Retrievers are 9-5-0 overall and tied for third in the America East with a 3-1-0 conference record and nine points. They have won four in a row and eight of their last 10 games after starting the season 1-3, and the nine wins surpass their entire 2004 season total of eight.

 

On Monday, Bukowski was tabbed America East Co-Rookie of the Week, sharing the honors with Boston University’s Marisha Schumacher-Hodge.

 

Bukowski and the Retrievers return to action Thursday, Oct. 13, when they travel to America East foe Binghamton (7-6-2, 3-2-0 America East) at 1 p.m. The Bearcats are tied with the Retrievers for third place in the conference with nine points.
