DICARLO’S GOAL IN 86TH MINUTE LIFTS WOMEN’S SOCCER PAST HARTFORD, 1-0

Though both teams had several opportunities, the game remained scoreless until the Retrievers were awarded a corner kick, which freshman midfielder Cara Palmer (Odenton, Md.) sent to senior midfielder Jessica Golibart (Olney, Md./Good Counsel). Golibart headed the ball to DiCarlo, who converted it for her career-high seventh goal of the season at 86:43. Palmer and Golibart were each credited with their second assists of the year, and it was DiCarlo’s second game-winner of the season, as well.

The Hawks out-shot the Retrievers, 12-9, but UMBC held a 7-4 advantage on corner kicks.
The win gives Salmon 45 victories in her career and leaves her just one shy of becoming UMBC’s all-time winningest women’s soccer coach. Jamie Watson recorded 46 wins in five years with the Retrievers.
The Retrievers return to action Sunday, Oct. 9, when they host America East rival
