After a scoreless first half, freshman midfielder Kali Schwartz (Congers, N.Y./Clarkstown South) scored just over a minute into the second period, at the 46:05 mark, to give the Retrievers a 1-0 lead. It was her third goal of the season.

The Broncs got on the board at 63:16, when Kayla Devlin took a pass from Kelli Burke to cut UMBC’s lead to 2-1, but the score stood for the rest of the game.
Each team had 11 shots, but Rider had a 5-3 advantage on corner kicks. Retriever freshman goalie Catie Bukowski (Odenton, Md./Arundel/South Carroll) tallied four saves in 90 minutes, while Rider netminder Kim Carter stopped seven shots.
The win was head coach Michelle Salmon’s 41st of her career, moving her to within five of Jamie Watson for the most victories in program history.
