WOMEN'S SOCCER BLANKS HOWARD, 1-0

    J.J. Young assisted on the game-winning goal and now leads the team in points (8).

    UMBC improved to 2-2 on the season as they defeated Howard (0-3) by a score of 1-0 on Friday afternoon at Washington, D.C.

    Kelly Fiorani (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) scored the game-winner with less than five minutes remaining when she converted a pass from teammate J.J. Young (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone).

    For the game, Howard outshot UMBC, 15-10, but the Retrievers had more shots on goal with eight.

    UMBC returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to Mount St. Mary's for a 4 p.m. game.
