UMBC INKS SIX WOMEN'S SOCCER STANDOUTS ALL-METRO SELECTION LAUREN CUNNINGHAM HEADS GROUP

Baltimore, MD - - -UMBC head women's soccer coach Michelle Salmon announced today the signing of six high school standouts. Lauren Cunningham (Inst. of Notre Dame/Baltimore, MD), Missy Moore (Good Counsel/Silver Spring, MD), Roula Adams (Mercy/Baltimore, MD), Julie Libertini (Mt. De Sales/Parkton, MD), Kim Sawyer (Princess Anne/Virginia Beach, VA), and Kelly Lizon (Washington Towsnship/Turnersville, NJ) will all play for the Retrievers next fall. Cunningham is a 5'4" forward who was named to the All-Metro Team this past season. She scored 25 goals and added 11 assists in her senior season. Cunningham has explosive speed and is regarded as a great finisher. Moore, a 5'3" forward is a member of the Olympic Development Program, and she helped lead Good Counsel to the WCAC Championship the past three years. Moore has great vision and the ability to fins the net. Another striker, 5'9" Roula Adams, was an All-Conference and All-County player at Mercy H.S. She is an extremely strong player who also has great vision. 5'6" midfielder Julie Libertini was an All-Conference and All-County selection last year, and will play lacrosse and soocer at UMBC. She has great speed and a good work ethic. Kim Sawyer will help out on the defensive end of the fied. The 5'9" fullback was an All-Conference and All-County pick, and is known for her toughness and distributing skills. 5'10" goalie Kelly Lizon rounds out the class of 2005. An All-Conference and All-County selection this past season, Lizon brings great athleticism and strength to the position, and will compete for immediate playing time as a freshman. "We are extremely excited about the talent of this class, said Coach Salmon. "They all have tremendous potential and I expect them to energize our program. I'm especially thrilled about the forwards, and their ability to put the ball in the net."
