WOMEN’S SOCCER CLINCHES #6 SPOT FOR AMERICA EAST TOURNAMENT WITH 1-0 UPSET OF NORTHEASTERN

Both teams had numerous opportunities to score in the first half as the teams combined for a total of 10 shots. UMBC freshman Amanda DiCarlo (Ontario, Canada /St. Paul’s) had the best chance when she found Huskies keeper Cynthia Slowik (Rocky Hill, Conn./Rocky Hill) out of the net, but her shot hit the inner side of the post and bounced out into the hands of Slowik.
In the second half, the Huskies were awarded six corner kick opportunities, but were not able to convert. With just under nine minutes remaining in the game, Quintavalle was able to break away from Northeastern defenders, just before striking the ball at the five-yard mark, past Slowik, and into the lower right corner of the Huskies’ net.
