MOORE NAMED NEC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

UMBC freshmen Derek McElligott and Missy Moore both earned NEC Rookie of the Week awards for their play this past week. Both freshman lead their teams in scoring. McElligott has eight goals in nine games, and scored a hat trick in UMBC's 4-0 win over Central Connecticut on Friday. All three goals came in the second half, as did an assist on George Bakoulas' insurance goal. McElligott is currently second in the South Atlantic region in both scoring and goals scored.Moore now has four goals and two assists on the year, and helped the Retrievers to a pair of critical NEC wins this weekend. She assisted on the game-winning goal, then scored an insurance marker as UMBC blanked FDU, 4-0. Then, the Silver Spring, MD native headed in a Staci Grider cross in the sixth minute and UMBC held on for a 1-0 win over a strong Monmouth squad.
