Peter Krech enters his first season as the UMBC women’s soccer volunteer assistant coach.
Prior to UMBC, Krech spent three seasons as the assistant men’s coach and recruiting coordinator at his alma mater, St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Krech’s responsibilities included organizing and working with film, being involved in training plans and game strategies, as well as identifying potential student-athletes, coordinating their visits, paperwork and tours.
Krech gained head coaching experience with the Freestate Soccer Alliance, where he has been on staff since 2009 and currently serves as the coach for the U17 Strikes and the U11 Sparks.
Krech also has experience with the Olympic Development Program (ODP), where he coached the ’95 boys’ team to the regional finals in 2011. Prior to taking over the boys’ team in 2011, he served as the assistant coach with the ’96 girls in 2010 and the ’95 girls in 2009.
The Maryland native graduated from St. Mary’s in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in sports coaching and management. Krech also has a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) National “C” License and a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Level I Goalkeeping Diploma.
