On Hearin: Will again anchor the Retrievers’ defense…has great ability to win the ball in the air…expected to be a team leader on and off the field as co-captain.

 

2004: Started all 18 games for the Retrievers…tied for fifth on the team in points (4) and ranked fifth in assists (2)…scored her first career goal with 1:46 left in the game to give UMBC a 2-1 victory over conference rival Stony Brook.

 

2003: Saw action in all 16 games for the Retrievers, starting 15…named to both the America East All-Conference Second Team and All-Rookie Team.

 

2002: Sat out the season with a knee injury.

 

Background: Served as UMBC’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee president for 2004-05 and will do so again in 2005-06…was a scholar-athlete for four years at Watkins Mill...received All-Division and All-County Gazette honors in 2000 and 2001…named All-County Journal in 2001...was an All-Met Honorable Mention in 2000…All-Met Second Team and All-State Second Team in 2001…led her team to the 4A West Region title and state semifinals as a senior…won the State Cup with her club team, the Bethesda Sting, in 2000…played club soccer with current Retrievers Aryn Epstein, Andrea Perkinson and Christie Sikorski…also lettered in basketball for one year at Watkins Mill…a member of the National Honor Society and a Maryland Distinguished Scholar Honorable Mention…enjoys playing golf…daughter of David and Linda Hearin...her older sister, Libby, played volleyball at Campbell University for two years…born on Dec. 28, 1984...a history major who is also earning her teaching certificate.
