After capping off a successful career at Marist College, Mellanie Nai begins her first year at UMBC, working primarily with the Retriever goalkeepers.
As a captain of the Red Foxes during her senior year, Nai received Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All-Academic Team honors, and also became an Academic All-American Nominee. As a junior, she was recognized as the MAAC Goalkeeper of the Year as she led Marist to the conference title, earning her First Team All-MAAC honors. In that same year, Nai also received both MAAC Player of the Week and East Coast Athletic Conference (ECAC) Goalkeeper of the Week awards.
"We are very fortunate to add Mellanie to our coaching staff," said head coach Michelle Salmon. "Her background and experience is definitely a tremendous asset to our program."
A three-sport athlete at Marist, Nai was also a member of the women's basketball team from 1999-2000, and the women's lacrosse team in 2003. She graduated in May 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.
