BALTIMORE – The UMBC women's soccer team will participate in a pair of events over the weekend, traveling to Howard High School in Columbia, Md. to take part in Headers For Hope on Saturday, April 12 and following with its annual alumni game on Sunday, April 13 at the UMBC Stadium.
Games will open at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning in a women's soccer showcase that features Navy, West Point, George Mason, Loyola and UMBC. The Retrievers will take on Navy at 1 p.m. and follow with a matchup against George Mason at 3:45 p.m. The showcase costs ten dollars to enter, with all the money going to the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults.
Headers For Hope was established in honor of every individual who has been diagnosed with cancer; every family member who has held the hand of their loved one being treated for cancer; and all friends acting as a support system to someone who has been told the news they have cancer. The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults changes lives by creating a community of support for young adults, and their loved ones, as they fight cancer and embrace survivorship.
The Retrievers are set to host their annual alumni game on Sunday, with the current members of the women's soccer team taking on the squad's former players. Game time is set for 11 a.m.
