Women’s Soccer Welcomes Robert Morris on Friday

 

BALTIMORE – UMBC women's soccer returns to non-conference action on Friday, Sept. 6 when it welcomes Robert Morris to Retriever Soccer Park for a 7 p.m. first kick. The black and gold look to hand the Colonials their first loss of the 2013 campaign. All the action can be seen live on UMBCRetrievers.tv, free of charge, in addition to live stats being able at www.UMBCRetrievers.com. The first 150 UMBC students in attendance will receive free USB flash drives.

The Retrievers (1-2-1) look to get back on the right foot, after falling in their latest contest, 3-0, to Drexel on Sunday afternoon. Senior goalkeeper Lauren Kadet (Oakville, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas) sits 13 stops shy of tying UMBC all-time saves leader Nadine Henchcliffe (1993-95), who amassed 339 saves in her career with the Dawgs. Kadet ranks second in the America East in saves (18) and saves per game (5.33).

UMBC junior forward Lilly Rydon (Stirling, South Australia/Concordia College) leads the team with a goal and an assist, while freshman forward Amanda Dailey (Howell, N.J./Freehold Township/Monmouth) has registered a team-best seven shots, with one reaching the back of the net.

Robert Morris (3-0-1) hits the road for the first time since the season began and enters the weekend unbeaten after its first four games. In its latest contest, the Colonials notched a 1-1 double overtime draw against Pittsburgh. Sophomore forward Madison Kozlowski tabbed her fourth goal of the last three games in the tie. Kozlowski has placed all of her team-best eight shots on goal, with a Northeast Conference-best four reaching the back of the net.

Netminders Chelsea de Jager and Becky Schoenecker have split time in net, combining for 18 saves and one shutout on the season.

-The Retrievers and Colonials meet for the first time since 2002, when the two were Northeast Conference foes.
