BALTIMORE – Coming off of a 1-1 double-overtime tie against America East foe Maine, the UMBC women's soccer team plays host to Boston University on Thursday, Oct. 4 at the Retriever Soccer Park. UMBC (1-8-3, 0-2-1 America East) went 0-1-1 last week, falling at Hartford 4-1 on Thursday before picking up its third tie of the season against Maine on Sunday. Junior midfielder Amy Savage (Ottawa, Ontario/Sir Wilfrid Laurier) tallied her second goal since returning from injury, but the Hawks exploded for three first half goals to remain undefeated in league play. The Retrievers jumped out in front 1-0 against the Black Bears on Sunday, as senior forward Rachel McKee (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) picked up her second goal of the season, however, Maine was able to even up the contest at the end of the first half, converting on a last second goal. Neither team was able to break the deadlock through two overtimes.
The black and gold have five players that have a team-best two goals this season. McKee and freshman back Alexa Quaranta (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) lead with five points apiece, each scoring two goals and adding an assist.
Boston (7-5-1, 3-0-0, America East) was led by America East Player of the Week Madison Clemens to a pair of victories last week against Maine and Vermont. The junior forward tallied an insurance goal in a 2-0 win versus Maine and added a pair of goals in a 2-1 overtime win at Vermont on Sunday.
Clemens leads BU and ranks third in the America East in goals, with six on the season.
The Terriers will look to continue their 27-game win streak against conference opponents and their undefeated record versus the Retrievers on Thursday night.
