  • Women’s Soccer Raises Money For Breast Cancer Research

    BALTIMORE – The UMBC women’s soccer team raised $1300 for breast cancer research during its recent “Fight in Pink” contest on Oct. 14 against Stony Brook. The money will go directly to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, a foundation that has become the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.

    ALBANY, N.Y. – UMBC freshman midfielder Preslie Quaranta (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) put the Retrievers out in front early, but it was a hat trick from Albany’s senior forward Shayla Bergeron that ignited the Great Danes past the Retrievers, 4-1, during Sunday’s America East action on Senior Day at Turf at College Park.

    BALTIMORE – A pair of first half goals surged Binghamton past the UMBC women’s soccer team on Senior Night at Retriever Soccer Park. The Bearcats defeated the Retrievers 3-0 in the America East matchup, eliminating UMBC’s chances for the sixth and final spot in the conference tournament.

    BALTIMORE – With one week remaining in the regular season, the UMBC women’s soccer team finds itself in the running for one of the three remaining spots in the America East Championship – with Hartford, New Hampshire and Maine having solidified their berths. The Retrievers welcome Binghamton to Retriever Soccer Park on Thursday, Oct. 18 for Senior Night and travel to Albany for their regular season finale at noon against the Great Danes at the Turf at College Park.

    BALTIMORE – UMBC freshman forward Bria Bass (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) blasted home her third goal of the season in Sunday afternoon’s "Fight In Pink" America East women’s soccer matchup, but a second-half penalty kick by Stony Brook led to a 1-1 double-overtime draw at the Retriever Soccer Park. The tie marked the Retrievers’ fifth draw of the season, a program record.
