UMBC Women’s Lacrosse’s Davey Named ECAC Division I South Rookie of the Week

BALTIMORE – UMBC women's lacrosse freshman Marissa Davey (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) added to her honors this week by being named the ECAC Division I South Rookie of the Week.

Davey, who was named the America East Co-Rookie of the Week on Monday, sparked the Retrievers in a 13-12 overtime victory against Binghamton in UMBC's America East opener on Saturday. The freshman recorded the Dawgs' final four goals in regulation to send the Retrievers into overtime and tallied the game-winner in extra time, finishing the day with five goals on eight shots.

Davey more than doubled her season total in goals, entering the game with four scores on the year, while also chipping in three draw controls, one ground ball and a critical caused turnover as time expired to help the Retrievers hang on for the victory
