Cambridge, Mass- Junior defender Jamie Fahey (Baldwin, Md./Loch Raven) was named to America East Conference First Team in voting done by the league's seven head coaches.
Freshman goalkeeper Anna Barnett (Midland, Texas/Midland) earned a pair of league honors, as she was named to both the league's Second Team and to its All-Rookie Team. She shared Second Team honors with senior midfielder Alicia Krause(Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) and All-Rookie Team accolades with attacker Abby Wilson (Bel Air, Md./Fallston).
Fahey has earned conference honors in all three seasons at UMBC, but this might be her most rewarding accolade. She suffered a torn ACL in April of 2011 and did not compete in UMBC's final five games of the season. The 2010 America East Rookie-of-the-Year still managed to earn first team honors last season, but missed the fall season while rehabilitating her knee. She did not miss a beat this spring, starting all 16 games and placing second on the team with 34 draw controls, while adding 17 ground balls and eight caused turnovers.
Barnett has posted a record of 5-2 in her initial season and leads America East with a 48.8 save percentage and is second with an 8.44 goals against average. She earned the league's Defender of the Week award on both March 26 and April 16 in the wake of victories over Albany and Vermont.
Krause reached the 30-goal plateau for the second consecutive season and now has 153 career points in her four collegiate seasons. A First Team selection in 2011, Krause had recorded a career-best high 16 assists and was sixth in America East play in both points per game (3.50) and assists per game (1.50).
Wilson had a strong initial campaign, scoring 22 goals and amassing 28 points. Wilson also contributed in other areas, coming up with 15 ground balls, 18 draw controls and nine caused turnovers. She was the league's Rookie-of-the-Week on March 12, 2012.
The third-seeded Retrievers face No. 2 Stony Brook at the America East Championships in Boston, Mass. on Thurs., May 3 (4:00 p.m.).
