  • Box Score

Baltimore, MD – UMBC (4-7, 3-1 NEC) outshot Quinnipiac (6-6, 3-3 NEC), 41-23, as seven different Retrievers found the back of the net in an 18-8 Northeast Conference win over the Bobcats this afternoon at UMBC Stadium.

Junior Lauren Hess (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) gave UMBC a 6-1 lead just inside the 15-minute mark as she scored four consecutive goals in a seven-minute span. Junior Jen Dragoni (Morton, PA/Ridley) and freshman Kelly Fiorani (Sykesville, MD/Liberty) each added three goals in the first half to give UMBC a 12-4 advantage at halftime.

In the second period, Quinnipiac would pull within six at 13-7 as Jennifer Larson (Islip Terrace, NY/East Islip) scored, followed by two more goals from Kristen Oldenburg (Jamesport, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) at 35:50 and 37:39. However, UMBC would score five of the final six goals to secure the 18-8 victory.

The Retrievers were led in scoring by Hess (5g) and senior Stephanie Allen (3g, 2a) (Mississauga, Ontario/Universal), who each had five points. Bobcat sophomore Amy Willis (Hingham, MA/Hingham) also had five points, with two goals and three assists.

UMBC returns to action on Tuesday, April 15, when they host area rival Towson University for a non-conference match at 7 p.m.
