Stanford, CA - No. 17 Stanford toppled the UMBC Retrievers 17-7 Monday afternoon at Maloney Field. Eight different members of the Cardinal squad scored as Stanford improved to 7-2 on the season. The Retrievers' Jen Dragoni netted three goals to lead her team as UMBC dropped to 2-6 on the year.
Stanford tallied the first goal of the day, but UMBC tied the match at 1-1 nine minutes into the contest. Four minutes later, the Cardinal's Megan Burker posted the go-ahead goal as Stanford maintained the lead for the remainder of the game. Abbi Hills posted a game-high four goals and added one assist while Kim Cahill tabbed two goals and three assists. The Cardinal held a 7-3 halftime lead, but Stanford tabbed ten goals in the second half to extend its lead.
Other scorers for UMBC included senior Stephanie Allen, junior Tracie McClintic, sophomore Annie Davis, and freshman Erin Lynn.
