WOMEN'S LACROSSE SCORES SEASON HIGH 19 GOALS IN 19-9 WIN OVER CAL

Berkeley, CA-The UMBC women's lacrosse team snapped Cal's eight-game winning streak and scored a season-high 19 goals in a 19-9 victory. The Retrievers improve to 2-5 on the season, while Cal falls to 8-2.
After Cal got on the board just 29 seconds into the game, the Retrievers went on a 5-0 run to lead 5-1 8:36 into the game. UMBC extended the margin to 10-5 at intermission as seven different Retrievers hit the nets. Senior Stephanie Allen and freshman Kelly Fiorani netted two goals each as UMBC opened the second half on a 7-0 run to open up an insurmountable 17-5 advantage with 17:45 remaining.
Fiorani led all scorers with a season-high 5 goals and 2 assists. Senior Lauren Traber added four goals, while Allen and Lauren Hess scored three each. Junior Jen Dragoni (1g, 2a) and freshman Kate Worthington (2g) were also multiple point scorers for UMBC. Netminder Courtney Stringer made 11 saves to earn the victory.
