Anna Barnett Named America East Conference Women's Lacrosse Defender of the Week
Cambridge, Mass.- UMBC freshman goalkeeper Anna Barnett (Midland, Texas/Midland) was named America East Conference Womenís Lacrosse Defender of the Week, it was announced today.
In her first collegiate start, Barnett earned a win over 13th-ranked Albany as the Retrievers prevailed, 8-5 on Sat., March 24. In the contest, she made a team season-high nine saves and stopped four of five UA free position attempts, including a pair in the final 3:31 of the game. The first-year player also caused a turnover and recorded a pair of ground balls.
Barnett now has a save percentage of 55.9 and a 7.02 goals against average in 222 minutes of action, ranking first and second respectively amongst keepers that have played in at least half of their teamís games.
UMBC (4-5, 1-0) hosts Boston University (5-4, 1-0), winners of four straight in an America East Conference match-up on Sat., March 31 at noon.
