Women's Lacrosse Faces First of Two on Road This Week; Retrievers Travel to Delaware for Wednesday Contest

The UMBC women’s lacrosse team (1-3) hopes to snap a two-game slide when they take on the host Delaware Blue Hens (2-3) on Wednesday, March 7. The opening draw is set to take place at 4:00 p.m. at Delaware Stadium.
Scouting the Retrievers
Visiting Duquesne overcame a two-goal halftime deficit, and outscored UMBC, 6-1, in the second half to capture an 11-8 victory over the Retrievers at UMBC Stadium on Saturday. The Retrievers dropped their second consecutive contest and fell to 1-3 on the season.
Senior midfielder Alicia Krause led UMBC with three goals and one assist against her former team. Junior middie Lindsay Cox scored once and added three assists. Sophomore midfielder Kristin Bilney added two goals for UMBC.
Cox leads the team in scoring with nine goals and three assists.
The Retrievers are struggling to shoot the ball, as they are converting on less than 30 percent (29.4%) of their attempts. UMBC is just 7-of-29 on free position shots in the early going.

They have dropped two straight, including Saturday’s 9-8 loss to visiting
Burns netted three goals to record her first career hat trick for the Blue Hens (2-3), who had a three-game home win streak at Delaware Stadium snapped.
Caitlin McCartney leads the offense with 11 goals and 2 assists, while Chelsea Fay has 10 goals.
