Women’s Lacrosse Goes for Third Straight Saturday at Duquesne

BALTIMORE—Coming off a big victory over 17th-ranked Towson, the UMBC women’s lacrosse team (3-1) looks to extend its winning streak to three in a row Saturday when it visits Duquesne (1-2). Game time from Rooney Field is set for 1 p.m.
Last Time Out: UMBC used a 5-0 run to rally from a halftime deficit and defeat their cross-town rivals, 10-9. Senior attack Erika Braerman (Fallston, Md./Fallston) led all scorers with four points on three goals and an assist, while three other Retrievers tallied two goals apiece. On the Dukes: Duquesne is 1-2 on the season after falling to No. 10 Notre Dame on Sunday. Attack Katie Rekart led the Dukes with three goals against the Fighting Irish, while goalie Liz Walker made seven saves. Rekart has tallied a team-best nine points so far this season, while midfielder Meredith Dunn is tops with eight goals.
Inside the Series: UMBC and Duquesne have met just once previously, a 17-1 victory for the host Retrievers in 1997.
For Starters: At 3-1, UMBC is off to its best start since 1995, when the Retrievers also won three of their first four games.
