The honors keep piling up for America East Rookie of the Year Jamie Fahey.

BALTIMOREUMBC freshman defender Jamie Fahey (Baldwin, Md./Loch Raven) was named to the Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches’ Association (IWLCA) and also earned a spot on the womenslacrosse.com All-Rookie Squad, the organizations announced on Friday.

The IWLCA honors 128 Division I student-athletes with inclusion on one of the eight All-Region teams, with each of the four regions naming a first and second team. Fahey is one of just eight freshmen recognized on those squads.

Womenslacrosse.com acknowledged 16 of the nation’s top freshmen on its Division I all-rookie team.

The America East Rookie of the Year and a Second-Team All-Conference selection, Fahey anchored a UMBC defense that ranked second in the conference and 11th in the NCAA, allowing 8.85 goals per game. She was one of just four Retrievers to start all 18 games in 2010 and led UMBC with 35 draw controls while ranking second with 39 ground balls.

Fahey is the Retrievers’ fourth All-Region honoree in the last five years, joining Kelly Fiorani (2006), Ali Levendusky (2008) and Kara Dorr (2009).
