Amanda Pappas leads UMBC with 22 goals this season.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.UMBC junior midfielder Amanda Pappas (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) was named America East Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for the second time this season, the conference announced Monday.

Pappas led the Retrievers with four points on three goals – including the game-winner – and an assist in a 10-9 overtime victory at Stony Brook in the America East opener. With the game tied at 9-9, the midfielder notched the game-winner with four seconds remaining in the overtime period to send UMBC to its fifth straight victory. It was her fifth hat trick of the season, and she leads the Retrievers with 22 goals on the year. Pappas also added three draw controls, a ground ball and a caused turnover.

Pappas was also named Player of the Week on Feb. 22, and it is the third time a Retriever has earned the honor this season, as junior attack Erika Braerman garnered the nod on Feb. 15.

The Retrievers return to action this afternoon, when they take on Manhattan in their final non-conference tilt.
