Kate Quick Tabbed America East Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week

Kate quick allowed just nine goals in two games last week and boasts a 7.63 GAA on the season.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.UMBC senior goalie Kate Quick (Phoenix, Md./Maryvale Prep) was named America East Defensive player of the Week for the week ending March 21, the league announced Monday. The award is the third of Quick’s career, as she garnered the accolade twice last season.

 

The America East First-Team All-Conference keeper a year ago, Quick made 15 saves and allowed just nine goals in a pair of UMBC wins last week. She also added five ground balls and three caused turnovers.

 

Quick stopped five shots while allowing just two goals in a 19-2 win over American on Wednesday. She also picked up four ground balls and caused three turnovers against the Eagles. Then in a 9-7 win at Delaware on Sunday, she made a season-high 10 saves while allowing seven goals.

 

Quick has allowed double-digit goals just twice this season, boasting an outstanding 7.63 goals-against average and .511 save percentage through nine games. She is also tied for the team lead with 22 ground balls.

 

Quick and the Retrievers open America East Conference play Saturday afternoon at Stony Brook.
