BALTIMORE—UMBC senior midfielder Kara Dorr (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) was selected to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District II Women’s At-Large Second Team, the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced last week.

Dorr, who boasts a 3.72 grade-point average as a political science major, earned America East All-Conference Second Team honors last month and was a unanimous selection to the America East All-Academic squad, as well. The team co-captain led the Retrievers with 40 goals, 50 points and 34 draw controls – all career highs – and she ranked second on the team with 19 caused turnovers and fourth with 10 assists and 26 ground balls.

Dorr ranked fifth in the America East in goals per game (2.5) and ninth in points per game (3.12), and she scored at least two points in 10 straight games to end the season. She finished her career with 100 goals, 123 points, 99 ground balls and 124 draw controls and was named UMBC’s Outstanding Senior Female Athlete at the athletic department’s varsity awards banquet.

The At-Large squad consists of student-athletes in the sports of bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving and tennis.

Dorr is one of two Retrievers to earn at-large recognition from CoSIDA, as tennis senior Cornelia Carapcea was tabbed to the first team.
