Kate Quick Named America East Women’s Lacrosse Defender of the Week

Kate Quick tallied 27 saves in two games last week.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.UMBC junior goalie Kate Quick (Phoenix, Md./Maryvale Prep) was named the America East Women’s Lacrosse Defender of the Week for the week ending March 8, the conference announced Monday.

 

Quick made 27 saves in two games while allowing just 18 goals for a .600 save percentage and a 9.28 goals-against average. She added two ground balls and two caused turnovers to her weekly resume.

 

Quick tied her career high with 16 saves against 18th-ranked Towson on March 3, then recorded 11 saves while allowing just four goals against Holy Cross on March 6.

 

Quick boasts a .505 save percentage on the season, which ranks third in the America East. In addition, she is third in the league with 48 saves and fourth with 9.6 saves per game. Her eight ground balls are the second-best total on the team.

 

Quick is the second Retriever to earn Defender of the Week this season, as sophomore Meagan Linkous (Jarrettsville, Md./North Harford) garnered the honor for Week 1.

 

The Retrievers return to action on Monday, March 9, when they host Delaware at 7:30 p.m. at UMBC Stadium.
