The teams alternated goals for the first 18 minutes, with both of Paris’ goals coming during that stretch, but with the score tied at 3-3, Towson rattled off six straight goals over the final 10:39 of the first half to take a 9-3 lead into the locker room. The Tigers made it seven in a row with the first goal of the second period before back-to-back tallies by sophomore midfielders Ashley Stodter ( Pappas was the only other Retriever with multiple points, as she added an assist on UMBC junior goalie Kate Quick went the distance and recorded a season-high 16 saves, while The Tigers outshot the Retrievers, 38-24, and held a 23-17 advantage on ground balls and a 15-9 edge in draw controls. The Retrievers return to action on Friday, March 6, when they host Holy Cross at 4 p.m. at UMBC Stadium. The contest is part of a UMBC lacrosse Games for a Cause doubleheader, as the Retrievers will wear pink uniforms as part of Under Armour’s Power in Pink initiative to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
