Meagan Linkous Tabbed America East Women’s Lacrosse Defender of the Week

A 2008 All-Rookie Team selection, Meagan Linkous earned the America East's first Defender of the Week award this season.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.UMBC sophomore Meagan Linkous was named the America East Women’s Lacrosse Defender of the Week, the conference announced Monday. The award covers all games played through Feb. 22.

 

Linkous scored three goals on defense and tied for the team lead with four ground balls and three caused turnovers to go along with five draw controls in two games. The 2008 America East All-Rookie Team selection notched a hat trick – the first of her career – in UMBC’s 19-1 victory over Howard last week, then posted three ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers at 12th-ranked Vanderbilt on Saturday.

 

Linkous and the Retrievers (1-1) return to action on Wednesday when they take on cross-town rival Loyola at 3 p.m. at the Greyhounds’ Diane Geppi-Aikens Field.
