Levendusky Tabbed America East Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.UMBC senior attack Ali Levendusky (Baldwin, Md./John Carroll) was named America East Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for the week ending March 2, the conference announced Monday. The award is the third of Levendusky’s career and the first for a Retriever this season.

 

Levendusky led the Retrievers to a perfect 2-0 week with a team-best 10 goals and 10 points, and she added five ground balls and five draw controls. She scored four goals against Loyola on Tuesday, including the game-winner with 5:17 remaining in the game and the score tied, to lead the Retrievers to an 11-10 victory, their first over the Greyhounds in 34 years.

 

Then in UMBC’s 15-8 win at Binghamton in the America East opener on Friday, Levendusky scored a career-high six goals, the most by a Retriever since 2002. She posted a hat trick in each half, and her six points tied her career best. Her fourth goal of the game was the 100th of her career, and she currently has 102 goals and 133 points in her career.

 

Levendusky has scored at least three goals in each game this season for a team-best totoal of 16, and she is riding an 11-game goal streak that dates to April 4, 2007.

 

Levendusky and the Retrievers return to action Tuesday when they host America East rival Vermont at 3 p.m. at UMBC Stadium.
